An excellent portrayal of the fur trade at the time. It's a no holds barred account of a group of fur hunters in hostile country. The scenery is as one would expect in this frozen and heavily forested part of the American continent. The clothing and firearms are realistic for the time. Two of the characters are based on historical figures; Glass and Bridger. Di Caprio and Hardy give outstanding performances and the cinematography is top notch. The Revenant captivates the watcher from the first scene to the end. The real Hugh Glass actually survived a bear attack. This film is a genuine masterpiece and a must see. Di Caprio's best performance ever, ably supported by Tom Hardy and the rest of the cast. The Revenant is definitely in my top ten best films of all time. Not one for the squeamish.
