Pretty, but agonizingly dull. Just absolutely terrible writing--honestly the writing is what you'd expect from an unpaid college intern, not a billion dollar project. At first I forced myself to continue watching in hopes it would get better, and then eventually I resigned myself to hate-watching it because of the sunk cost. Dreadful all around. Aside from Durin there's not a single truly likeable character, and even he is just 'okay'. I wasn't rooting for or invested in any of their stories because the characters (if they even have personalities) don't feel genuine or endearing at all. There also are glaring, annoying inconsistencies in characters' words and actions. The harfoots should not be in this show at all. An edit with every single scene of harfoots entirely removed, with the few important moments written in as a title card to another episode, would be a vast improvement for the show as a whole. The fight choreography is really slow and clunky and bad.. honestly, aside from a few cinematic moments (and a 'twist' that took all season to get to and was built on nonsense in retrospect) there is practically nothing to like about this show other than the budget, but even then all of the sets feel weirdly plastic and immaculate and small and fake. I just cannot believe they went SO wrong with everything.
