This one of the good police, murder mysteries. I have watched in recent times. I started this after watching Trapped another awesome, Icelandic murder mysteries.
Although it is not as good as Trapped, it is still a great series. The series stays true the plot.
For all those nit pickers about having a gun in the locker, investigating a place without a partner or back up, guess the violent crimes shown in the series are uncommon in Iceland and their police work style and rules are different.(i had the same questions in Trapped as well). Maybe if I watch more Icelandic movies and series will understand better.
Also the side stories about the individuals' personal lives are not distraction but more so to justify their actions when it comes to decision making and convictions on why they do what they do (can't giveaway spoilers). There are no office romance, nothing where everybody sleeps with everybody, gossips, rivalries, etc. The story just focuses on police work to solve the crimes. No unnecessary flashbacks, or mind voices, etc.
Unlike US based series the female characters do not wear high heels, tight and sexy outfits, flaunting hairstyles, flashy make up. Maybe this lends a certain authenticity to the police work. And many jobs are held by women from police to forensics to media to priest.
Few things that bugged me were - nil humour, not even jokes or funny quips. Also people hardly used mobile phones or social media to share information. The characters had to discover incidents in their own pace - not sure if this was deliberate to increase conflicts. But it was the same in Trapped as well. And the hot male characters turned out to be gay (sob, sob!)
Overall, if you like a series with logic, with many twists and plots and keeps you second guessing throughout till the end, don't miss it. Bonus you get to see some spectacular landscapes of Iceland.
Not sure if there will be a second season as the climax is a cliffhanger.
