I have been eagerly awaiting this movie, and left with a real sense of anti climax.
Far too much focus on Napoleon and Josephine, far too little on the breadth of Napoleons conquests, his skill as a commander, and the epic nature of his life.
No sense of the critical battle at Waterloo and how close to defeat and a possibly very different europe we might now have, or of Napoleons skill in seperating the armies of Wellington and Blucher, followed by his errors in commanding the battle which lead to his eventual defeat.
And Rupert Everett as Wellington- totally miscast.
Nice cinema and good food though.
