The pitfall with franchises and sequels is that the goal is to make the second movie larger the first. Given that Rocky bhai was already a legend and larger than life, it was a humongous task to create something bigger.
KGF 2 tries to do that and falters big time, in my opinion. The stage is set for a number of plot twists. And there are twists and tussles between Rocky, Adheera and the Indian government that keep the story going. However, the sequences are over the top and too violent and defy reality on a number of occasions. The focus throughout the movie is establishing Rocky as the hero - which we already know! So please give the audience some more meat!
Yash carries the movie on his shoulders with acting. Deservingly a national movie hero now. Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon deliver powerful performances. Prakash Rai's cameo is excellent. The heroine disappoints. There's no context to her role. A song has been force fit to provide her screentime. The background music is intense but jarring at times. None of the songs stand out.
The climax is far fetched!
All in all, a disappointment if you are anticipating some elements of class. A Yash show all the way so his fans would smile all the way!
And finally, it's "democracy" not "demography".
