I never went through this movie by someone's recommendation or else. Today, on 13th of December 2024, I have been watched this movie second time. About a year ago, I first watched Udaan while searching some remarkable movies on google to watch on Netflix. After all this span of time, I found Udaan, at first glance I did not get into the story, but later on, when I delved into this movie due to cinematography and starting scene, It grabbed my attention.
After watching entire movie, I realised that it was as per my mood and its story profoundly made place inside my heart. When I first watched it, my opinion and reviews would be different, but today, after watching it twice; it has changed my outlook.
The plot is fortified and characters in this movie are fewer with concrete bonding. The egoistic and narcissistic Rohan's father is a masterpiece acting and watching whole movie, one can speak with lens of psychology, Rohan's father personality was also going through agony since childhood as well as his brother (Rohan's chacho) was also presented as a grieved one. As he confessed in many scenes; like he wanted to become writer, but primitive thoughts never accomplished his dream.
Moreover, Ronit Roy (Rohan's father in the movie), was toxic due to the treatment he had taken by his father in his childhood. Udaan revolves around social life of contemporary era; and especially it presents lost and introvert behavior of child whose parents entered him/her into boarding. It tells the gap between parents and child which culminates into room left for love due to absence of care and generous treatment.
Furthermore, Arjun's character presents how absence of love and care makes one personality defected and lacking confidence; as Arjun was feeling thirst for love and Rohan's gentle treatment was testament in this regard.
Besides this, the ending dialogue of Rohan is crux of movie when he writes letter for dad: the significance of love: A paramount thing in nurturing any rleation.
In a nutshell, the movie also keenly tells audience: the importance of family life.
Lastly, I would say: the absence of love from parents for child is unending scar and dent.
