It is beautiful and alot of the commentary is about the love interests. I do not see this, I do not view the colour as an issue. I think we are who we are and who we feel most safe with. The declaration of possibly killing her brother may have also impacted on her, although this does not initially appear so. I did not believe in the love of the older man and younger woman. She is the owner of the land, and he took over more of a parental role - but that is only my interpretation.
