Interesting ideas that initially show potential. Beautiful cinematography (discounting the horrific C.G. dinosaur scene), but the film just lacks execution in the multi-layered philosophical questions. The film is a jumbled mess in plot, but there are really neat moments with fantastic dramatic detail. The characters are not quite consistent though; however the mother and father seem purposefully unrealistic as a means to portray nature and grace.
If you want to spend two hours weaving between breathtaking scenes of the universe and nature and confusing voice overs, this is the move for you. The films greatest strength was in following the family's struggle and portrayal of inherent sin.
