I have always had respect for law enforcement. I watched season 1 and thought they were really trying to make things better, however after watching season 2, this Sheriff makes ALL of law enforcement look bad. They had a huge sewer problem which caused major problems for them. No, they cannot help what happens naturally but how they handled the situation and treated the inmates was completely INHUMANE. The logistics of getting water for 300 people doesn’t take the intelligence of Einstein. They also had an inmate that was quite ill and one of the participants misdiagnosed him mainly because the jail wouldn’t deal with it at all and when they did they gave him an aspirin. If he were throwing up blood aspirin causes bleeding and also causes nausea. They also didn’t get him proper medical attention from the start. Had it actually been an Appendicitis and they let it go that long they could have easily caused his life. Yes they are in there to be punished but they should be treated humanely and it was obvious that there was NO real care for the inmates. They only had concerns for a riot and the staff. I wouldn’t trust my worst enemy in the care of this sheriff and that is saying a hell of a lot.
I have a law degree and have noticed in the last 30 years how things have changed drastically. There used to be mutual respect between law enforcement and citizens and convicts to some degree. Sadly, in recent years I have seen things I never thought I would see coming from law enforcement. The lack of training and the people that are being hired and fed up the ranks is quite scary for where our system is headed. At some point things have to change. I was hoping this was going to be something positive for the communities to see and instead it is more of the same.
