So here's a basic run down of what I can say about this movie.
1. The movie seems like it's trying to utilize some techniques from the first Doom movie with D. "The Rock" Johnson but fails. You're stuck with overly long suspenseful scenes with predictable outcomes, stiff acting and cliche character personas, lazy film editing and CGI, weird film consistancy, and a scary abuse of the jumpscare.
2. Laziness. I say this with constructive criticism in mind. There is no excuse, unless some of the people involved had to deal with their own emergency situations, in which case there is still no excuse for lazy directing, possible lack of studio leadership, and seemingly rushed production.
3. The movie is bland. The film allocates its focus on storyline, dialogue, and the horror aspect of Doom, almost as if it was an alternate take on the brand. This would've been an interesting and exciting perspective on the Doom brand, however, it's executed poorly. Again, the characters do more talking than actual demon fighting. There's more character dialogue than environment exploration and lore.
4. There's only one nicely done scene in there towards the last 20 minutes. BUT, the studio blows it just when you think it can redeem itself.
My final take for this film is:
Doom Annihilation, more like Doomed and Annihilated! The movie would have been outstanding had it been treated with more respect, time, and dedication.
!! Also, hollywood isn't an angel here either (get it, cuz its DOOOOM). I'm sure the producers and executives on the operation exploited the brand for some quick cash.)
