I don't know why this movie has such bad reviews, because personally, I LOVED it! 65 is a gripping and well-written 93-minute movie that has easily made its way into my Top 10 Favorites.
First of all, it wasted no time getting into the action. Not a single moment of the movie wasn't essential to building and moving forward the thrilling plot. There was no pointless, boring, torture-to-sit-through faffing about, and I was completely engaged and entertained the entire time.
There was excellent platonic chemistry between the two leads. Mills was an excellent father-figure character, with realistic motives and a legitimate purpose. And, unlike most child characters on television, Koa was not annoying, attention-seeking, or stereotypical in any way.
The effects, set, and jumpscares were all amazing and, to me, looked very real. After some very bad recently-released television programs, it's nice to know that there are still some high-quality movies out there.
And to the people who were 'bothered' by the leads holding hands at the end: seek help, because you need it.
Overall, I think this is a great movie, and not at ALL a waste of time. It had me laughing, feeling emotional, and excited the whole way through. If you are considering watching this at a theater or buying it on your television, I'd advise you to go ahead, and ignore the people who are just fighting over nothing.
