I’d say the only thing about this movie that was truly faithful to the franchise (and by extension, Capcom) was their uncanny ability to make body language, facial expressions, and lip-synching look unconvincing and unnerving. On top of that, the monsters seemed to lack any weight to their movements. The choreography of the fights seemed off, with certain scenes dropping frames for seemingly no reason.
Overall, the movie just failed to deliver — monster hunter never really stood out for strong, memorable characters, but for its excellent combat system, which made attacks and well-executed plans feel satisfying. This movie couldn’t even give us a good battle to watch.
