Even the original movie from the 80s might seem a bit outdated in technical aspects and slow/long-winded in terms of story telling, there is amazing magical and original ideas in this movie, that do not just lean on the standard same old orc-vs-elves fantasy mishmash originated by Tolkien, copied too many a times. The dark Crystal has its own world, imaginative and inventive.
I didn't think anyone could take that and make it into something new without failing it's originality, but I couldn't stop watching the age of resistance until the end!
The new Netflix series brings this marvelous witty world back to new life and brings it up to speed with exciting modern story telling, action and depth, that I wouldn't have imagined seeing the old movie for the first time just a week ago. To me this is a great revival of an old story, that lots of big fantasy production's can only learn from. Podlings and Gelflings, skeksis and fizzgigs :D omg I'm celebrating!
