This is a must-see! Set in an alternate world to the TV show (I think, I haven't watched the show) This story follows what you've probably heard about the series. A boy and girl are chosen to become the legendary superheroes Lady Bug and Cat Noir. Marionette (Ladybug) is in love with Adrien, however, she's annoyed by his alter-ego Cat Noir. Cat Noir is in love with Ladybug but fails to truly SEE Marionette. I think this movie was made for people like me who had an idea of what the show was and just wanted a nice way into the fandom. I knew the animation was going to be pretty from the trailers, but they went ALL OUT for this movie!! I'm an artist and let me tell ya watching some of the dance sequences was BLOWING my mind. is this how the older generation felt with classic Disney films? The elegance and beauty gave me SO many new and exciting ideas for art. When the action got going, I started to realize this is probably the main difference between a film and a TV show, the budget. So many popping colors and fast-paced battles really show you the scale of how dangerous these threats are. The movie just kept building and building on these fights and songs. I had NO idea they were going to show what they did (no spoilers, but I think long-time fans will be happy with what they're able to show). Some people aren't going to appreciate a different take on what they like, but I think that gives an IP longevity, How many Batmans have we got? I read somewhere that this is what the Ninjago movie should have been, I agree and disagree. This follows the spirit of the show with similar designs and the same (DUB) actors, but it allows itself to go in its own direction. The Ninjago Movie chooses to be especially unique in design but sometimes fails to capture what the show is really about and instead just tries to make a LEGO Movie ripoff. I can't speak as a show fan, but from my newcomer perspective I am so pleased with this film and I want my entire family to watch it (My mom is a big musical fan). This film has at least one thing that people will like and I'm giving it a 5.
