There are some weirdly negative reviews on this show. Kids, a.k.a. the target audience, seem to really enjoy this show. That means they hit their target.
Is the classic Mickey? No, not even close. And it is not trying to be. I can agree with some of the negative sentiments...it can be cloying, and Funny is...well...not, at least to this adult...but my kid sure does like him.
Funhouse seems a step down from prior series, and my child agrees; but he also craves new content. More importantly, the show and the characters remain approachable, and the show does strive to present good lessons and provide some truly innocent mischief.
My biggest, legitimate, adult gripe is that Disney changes concepts relatively often and that seems to be designed around marketing and pushing new products. This means throwing away characters and concepts that my child still enjoyed.
My personal biggest gripe...i want more Pete.
It is wrong to attack this show for not being able to please older age groups when it is designed to introduce these characters to younger age groups.
