A well-made and well-acted film that at first seems like a warm and uplifting story.
On reflection, there are several things that made me reconsider:
- What did we really learn about the carer character and the world he lives in?
- What is his character supposed to have learned/how has he grown since the start of the film? I can't think of anything apart from that not all rich white aristocrats are evil?
- Does the film conclude that his character's worth is and should be defined by how much labour can be extracted from him in exchange for shelter and food?
- What even happened with his step brother and aunty?
