I saw this tour - at the infamous Toledo Sports Arena. Infamous because ZZ Top opened for Alice Cooper, who never finished the gig. ZZ Top was great. They had the smallest amount of stage to work with as the Alice Cooper Group had massive amounts of gear covered with curtains and tarps. After ZZ did their thing ACG came onstage and performed Hello Hooray. So far so good. But in the middle of the second song, Billion Dollar Babies, some idiot tossed an M-80 onstage. It shattered a footlamp and glass hit guitarist Michael Bruce in the face. That was it - show over. As the crowd shuffled out with no refund there was a small riot and shouts of "Bring back ZZ Top!" In terms of the album: of all the hits ZZ Top produced my personal favourite is La Grange. Buy the album. See the band while they are still able to tour. I saw them a second time in Cincinnati a few years later - with Atlanta Rhythm Section - they are really great live. ZZ Top is the bluesiest rock band out there. Can you dig it?
