I watched this last night not knowing anything about it and was absolutely blown away. Sooo good on so many levels. Cinematography, dialogue, not a boring snooze fest of dialogue like Star Wars, special effects were visual awesomeness, makeup, costume, and prop design off the chain, and the story moved along quickly, the movie flew by for me so much that I thought the climax was a middle point in the movie, shocked to realize 2 hours had passed and the movie was ending. 5.1 Dolby Digital home theater sound was done extremely well. One of the first scenes with Kora plowing a field had me thinking I was having auditory hallucinations due to subtle sounds popping off all around me.
So then I come to google to read more about it and was again blown away to see a 22% rotten tomatoes score and 3 out of 5 star review rating. I can't believe it. I literally can't. Disney must be paying the bad reviewers or something because this beats Star Wars 1, 2, 3 and 7, 8, and 9 by ten fold. They are some of the worst movies I've ever seen and I LOVE Star Wars 4, 5, and 6. But those complaining this is a bad Star Wars... I mean... I just... I can't even.... And then comparing it to the Seven Samurai or Magnificent 7 concept also isn't fair. Movies have done this for decades like Ocean's 11 (the original one from 1960). You pick an all star team to win the race, or battle or whatever is in movies every year! Fast and the Furious for example. Those complaints are just amateur.
If you like intergalactic space action movies with awesome special effects and sound then you should love this. But if you're a Star Wars lover and don't have an open mind to enjoy a "similar" styled movie then maybe you won't. I think it's better than the newer Star Wars by tenfold. Especially in the boring dialogue department like with Anakin and Princess omg... I almost walked out of the theater. I want to see action and lasers and fight scenes, sounds bouncing all around me with awesome visuals, not the love story everyone already knows leads to Luke's conception. Rebel Moon skips that kind of junk and entertains you like a movie is supposed to. Watch this on your living room TV for one, and two, with a 5.1/7.1/Atmos surround sound home theater setup if you have it. Even a sound bar would be nice I bet. Sit back and enjoy.
