The story of Richard Jewel is one that should of been told years ago and thanks to Clint Eastwood it is now readily available to those of us that lived through this tense time in American history, as well as for those who are today bravely waking up and demanding social change.
Growing up in an era when you were taught to respect and obey law enforcement, it has become quite the chaotic experience trying to come to understand how things really are and not just alleged or imagined. Richard Jewel suffered severe mental and emotional duress at the hands of those that he admired the most. His being betrayed was our being betrayed and for the foreseeable future we will continue to be betrayed until actual reforms can penetrate into the very psyche of our judicial system.
I strongly recommend this movie and encourage you to use your screening of it as a teachable moment in which you can help inspire the next generation to do better than that which we have failed to do thus far....
