As a queer person, I thought this book was kind of insufferable, honestly. I love me a queer plotline but like… the chapters are super inconsistent, it felt like nothing really happened, and an enormous amount of the “tension” in the book was just the main character saying “oh gosh what if they find out I’m trans!” every 4 lines. It’s very fanfictiony and as someone who was originally pitched this as a queer rewriting of a book I really enjoy I was rather disappointed.
