Gave it 2 stars because it’s right in the mid of ratings. The world design, new enemies, variations of different looking regions and all the new weapons and such are amazing but I’m not a fan of the new leveling system specifically for the DLC. With how aggressive they made these bosses and most of the weapon arts they attack you with blinding 80% of your vision on screen, riding horses that outpace your horse and doing all kinds of different damage im really surprised they didn’t just keep the leveling the same as the base game leveling I feel like the DLC would still be fairly challenging even for super high level players but instead it’s more of an annoyance to play. I loved exploring the areas, I loved the new enemies and I did like most of the boss fights but they really made this a very unpleasant experience strictly because of this new leveling system I understand people will say that I’m not using everything to my advantage but if I have to run a seal just to use incantations like golden vow and flame grant me strength just to negate insanely high amounts of damage along with using talismans and consumables just so I can even stand a sliver of a chance against a boss then I’m sorry but that’s not enjoyable, fun or a good experience at all. I’ve been a FromSoft player since the beginning and I’m not planning on going away from their games but if this is the direction they’re trying to go in from here on out then I won’t be buying anymore of their product. All the reviews similar to mine are very valid I mean some people are complaining about the people like me that are complaining about the difficulty being unnecessarily high because they used everything to their disposal but that’s never how any FromSoft game has ever been even in Sekiro which had the hardest soulsbourne boss IMO (Isshin) you didn’t even need to use any consumables it was just pure skill and you had a fair chance but in Shadow of the Erdtree unless you go find every single scadu fragment and use every consumable and respec your build multiple times throughout one DLC just to be able to beat a boss that’s just not good design and the whole thing other than the world design and new bosses/enemies just felt rushed and not what I was expecting for a 2 YEAR wait I was definitely expecting a way better experience that I would be sucked into and replay over and over like I did the base game but honestly after beating this DLC I can safely say I won’t be touching it again.
