I have not read the book. The movie plot definitely gave outsiders of that geographical region a gander into the mindset and hurtles of the natives. What baffles me is how JD Vance could grow up in such a way and the wind up as DJT’s VP nominee. One would think that he’d be much more sympathetic to the plight of the economically deprived, disadvantaged, and drug addicted. That he isn’t more of a proponent of economic development and healthcare programs is quite astounding. The movie was finely acted and directed.
