Now that this game is a week old, I think iโve had enough playtime to form an opinion. For starters, the graphics in this game are amazing! However, thatโs where it ends for me.
I think this game has a lot of potential, but so far, I do not find this game fun. Most of my experience is in solo victim, so that is what I will be referring to in this review. On release day I played for about nine hours and had about two escapes. I was getting irritated but insisted on playing because I figured there was a learning curve that I needed to get over. On day 2 and 3 I started to get the hang of it, but I still wasnโt escaping as much. Fast forward to today, I still find it a little challenging to escape, but even when I do, iโm not having fun.
When I load up this game it almost feels like a chore that iโm obligated to do because I paid my money. I also feel as if I didnโt get much for the money that I spent on this game. There were no DLC or cosmetics on release day, which felt super lazy. Iโm not going say the game in entirety felt rushed, but a lot the aspects are very lackluster.
There is also not a lot of diversity among the characters in this game. There are only two POC characters out of 8 non-POC. Iโm not complaining about the family because iโm aware that the game is based on the original film, which didnโt include any POC. However, the victims were original creations and I feel as if there shouldโve been more diversity. Unfortunately, a lot of the player base targets Sonny, so anyone playing him is liable to be tunneled and taunted. I believe various characters from different backgrounds would resolved this issue in the future.
The leveling up system in this game is also not the best. Itโs so hard trying to find a build that you like when you have to 1. level up the perks for them to be useful and 2. have to keep respecing to find some perks that actually fit your play style. This is not a huge issue for me, but I do feel like there could be some tweaking.
