This novel is tragically heart-breaking but at the same time it's inspiring, heart warming and stimulating. What Veronica suffered with throughout her life with domestic violence and abuse in the sanctity of her own home is just soul destroying. All her life she was mistreated by the people closest to her and after moving away from her home country and family to escape her pain, she thought she had finally found the peace and security she longed for but her past demons had followed her as a new regime of terror began that eventually resulted in murder. It's based on true events, an incident that occurred in Bristol, UK in 2003. It explores sensitive themes of abuse and violence but is beautifully incorporated together with themes of resilience, courage and perseverance. Is wonderfully written with a shocking finale. I can not give it anything but 5 stars
