'To the creators of The Storm:
We follow Korean drama and appreciate your efforts in producing remarkable works that reach millions worldwide. However, our appreciation for these shows does not mean we will accept the distortion of our homelandโs image.
Iraq is not what you tried to portray. It is the land of the worldโs earliest civilizations โ Sumer, Babylon, and Assyria โ and the home of poets, scholars, and creators who enriched human culture. Iraq is not a country of terrorism, but a resilient, educated, and life-loving nation that has endured imposed wars, injustice, and foreign interventions. Despite the suffering, Iraq continues to create hope, contributing to literature, poetry, art, music, and architecture.
What is truly unfortunate is that you overlook the crimes committed by major powers: colonization, the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Americaโs crimes in Vietnam, and the devastation and displacement caused by wars in Iraq itself. You know every nation has its mistakes and crimes, yet you choose to depict Iraq alone in a negative light, presenting it to the world as a land of terrorism and โthe most dangerous place in the world.โ
Therefore, we call on you to respect the truth, issue an apology to the Iraqi people, and correct these misrepresentations. Iraq is far greater than all attempts to tarnish its name, and its true identity will always remain: the land of civilization, diversity, culture, and poetry. Finally, we affirm that constructive criticism does not diminish respect, but rather serves as a call to present the whole truth with fairness and integrity.โค๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ถ
