The story line was awesome!! It hit you with such a twist you would never expect. I loved that it explored the themes that it did. However. I give it three stars for many reasons. I don’t feel like it was done well. The explanations and dialogue surrounding these things was AWFUL at some points and just plain unkind many times. There also seemed to be many conversations and paragraphs that had no correlation with the book. Or that were just excessive. One might even call it virtue signaling.. ex : pg. 138, conversation between selena and olivia. unhealthy and unnecessary response to olivia’s answer to SELENA’s question. Also there were so many inaccuracies. Olivia’s thinking of a story when Asher was in 1st grade..then she asks Asher if he remembers said story from when he was in second grade..then goes on to say more about it being in first grade. All in one page? Did we proofread this ladies?? Editors?? Anyone?? The ending was boring and very disappointing. The book was so busy discussing other things that they just slapped an ending on it. Many unfinished story lines. As a pretty avid reader I would call this poor writing at its finest.
