The book is very well balanced between theory and applications. It provides an adequate theoretical background for most topics without diving into too many details that can be unnecessary for engineering and applied science students. It also covers a wide variety of math topics that are necessary for engineering students. I think it is a must-have textbook for engineers. However, the textbook is useful for those who have basic calculus and algebra knowledge. It is not an introductory math textbook.
