Genius movie. Well written, directed, acted, and all aspects of well that a movie can be.
There should be tremendous credit given to the combined effort of all who made this movie, specifically:
- Dune has suffered the stigma of too complicated a story for a general audience. Not so here, yet it keeps it very close to the original book’s essence.
- Dune can be too heady, and serious when being translated from the book. Again not so here. Example is the laugh the audience got from Duncan teasing Pauls (lack) of new muscles early on. The tone of the movie kept true to the spirit of the book, without becoming self important.
I could nitpick a couple minor things, but I wont because its not worth even risking any negative comment on this movie.
I mean come on! We had a real attempt at staying true to the book, we had great character development, we understood the plot, and where drawn in by it, all thanks to writing, acting, and direction.
There was real work, and love put in this move by a lot of really smart people.
And dont get me started on how complimentary and full out great the score is. Or the lighting and camerawork.
I am going to see it again in IMAX again this week, bo brainer!
