I dove into this show after its cancellation in 2007 or so when I was in highschool after a friend suggested it since he knew I was a huge fan of Stargate SG-1, Star Trek, Battlestar, etc. After the first two episodes I was absolutely hooked. My sister got me the DVD box set later that year for christmas and now, over 15 years later, this is still my favorite Science Fiction TV show ever. The show does not make an attempt or claim to be hard science fiction, focus on excessive techno-babble, but rather the cinematic production, great writing, and amazing performances carry the series from start to finish with some pretty unparalleled world building, all while maintaining a fairly tongue-in-cheek spirit to it. Further more, the way this show develops just catapults you into their universe and keeps you there without so much as a question, truly fantastical and every SciFi tv show or movie since has been lucky to come close to what they did with Farscape and the Peacekeeper wars movie. Still watch it front to back every year and a half or so... its that good.
