From the off this feels more like early Batman than any other “reboot” first movie.
We don’t have to wade through more of Bruce’s backstory as anyone coming to watch this movie SHOULD know how Thomas and Matha died.
The long looks into the shadows as the criminals fear Batman may be coming for them feel suspenseful for the audience too, which dark alley will he appear from.
Above all else is the screen time Batman actually gets, more Batman in this movie than even Nolan’s trilogy put together.
It’s beautifully shot with some great Easter eggs, I was the only one in the cinema who reacted to the Shakespeare bust in Wayne manor. Serkis is a good Alfred but again thankfully he’s not over used as Bruce’s conscience.
Good takes on Batman only really now getting used to being Batman too, the Batmobile stalling, Batman fumbling landings and not quite the greatest detective just yet all land well with the idea of future movies setting up him becoming better at his chosen role.
Can’t speak highly enough of this movie.
Do yourselves a favour and go and watch it.
