Been a Periphery fan for 7 years now. First listened to them when I got to my first duty location all the way in Idaho (I'm from Louisiana, so it was a big change).
I suffered from severe depression because of homesickness and the usual love story that didn't work out.
First songs I heard by them was "Marigold" and "Alpha". I'll never forget how much those two songs dragged me into their music. Checked out PIII first, since Marigold came from that album. Realized how heavy they can be, and how mellow they can also be.
This album seems to really touch on their mellow side, which at first kinda struck me with surprise and a little disappointment because I love some great palm mute chugs.
Then I started listening to the album more and more, and realized that every periphery album has needed to marinate in my brain for a few weeks for me to really love it. This album epitomized that. I CANNOT STOP listening to "Thanks Nobuo" and "Wax Wings".
This album is an absolute 5/5, and those that give it less because it wasn't what they expected clearly don't know what "progressive metal" means.
