I've come across so many movies with this concept, but for me, none was stylishly executed like F.A. The acting, the cinematography, the soundtrack...have stayed with me all these years. Similar movies that want to top this movie would have to work very hard. I'm watching it again, since the first time it got released and it's even more beautiful and poignant than I remembered. The 80s were a good time for movies.

I liked it. Yes, it has perhaps aged terribly about homosexuality being cured through psychoanalysis but it provides a historical look on how things were back then. I don't understand why there are readers who are condemning this book for that. SS is a wonderful writer, almost poetic and his use of expressions are way better than the vampire authors we find nowadays. All they can write about is the macabre and feed off on sentimental idiots who lap up every vitriolic word that comes off their books. SS is different. Albeit this book is not his best - there are too many coincidental happenings - it does keep the reader wondering and puzzling who could be the antagonist. In that sense, he has achieved what he has set out to do. And he's richer for it.

the stream of consciousness thing was a bit heavy in this book I thought there were some areas where JCO could have explored - about Zanche, her struggles as a single mother for her child, and just when I thought it was being done that JCO moves in another direction and starts all the ellipses again. Before I read this book I went on some sites to check out the reviews and almost everyone said the ending was unforgettable etc - which was why I started reading this book. But truth be told, it was nothing out of the extraordinary, just a sorry ending of a sorry character in an even sorrier book. I'm giving 3/5 for the sheer imagination that gave birth to this book and nothing else. And given that this author has given a recent self-righteous interview in Vanity Fair - I am not sure if I'd want to read any of her other books again.

loved this movie to bits! would not mind watching it again for the sheer entertainment it provided. just got very good feelings from the overall movie - in that sense, Will Ferrell has hit a masterpiece. What is the point of making movies which appear so intellectualised or have 987 sex scenes at every turn just to make it to Cannes festival? I guess that's what this movie is all about, it's not about winning. LOVED IT - it's a 5 out of 5 from me!
