Even though the whole point of this series is about two teenagers in love, it's refreshing to watch a The Vampire Diaries spin-off to appreciate more on deep friendships rather than focusing too much on the romance. It gets really tiring watching all The Vampire Diaries series obsessed with getting the main characters to fall in love or sleep with one another, etc. I love that this spinoff doesn't only involve 1-3 Black people, it's more diverse and modern, not to mention that it is open to LGBTQ+ community.
