A masterpiece of a film. Zack really outdid himself with this one. The movie makes sense throughout the whole 4 hours. Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman make a lot more sense now that this cut is out. It links the whole universe together.
Each character gets their own arc, there is no useless unnecessary jokes but each justice league member, despite just meeting each other, have a sort of chemistry replicated from the animated series of Justice League. Batman's arc was completed, he was inspired by Superman and we got some really cool scenes and shots of him in the movie. Cyborg and Flash were probably my favourite characters, they each had a back story and it motivated them to do what was right. Aquamans arc was just beginning he was crucial to the plot.
The villain Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds) had motives and was understood unlike the 2017 version who kept bickering Mother Mother Mother. You almost felt some sympathy for him at the end of the movie. Darkseid dominated each scene he was in with his pure evil demeanour and his booming voice (Good job Ray Porter) and laid out a foundation for what was to come in the upcoming Justice League movies. (Hopefully it gets the green light).
Tom Holkenberg did a fantastic job on the score. It was really immersive and felt like an experience. There are a lot of favourite scenes for me in this movie but the one that topped it all off was Henry Cavills Superman's Flight 2.0, it gave me Man of Steel vibes. It was a nice nod to the movie that started it all off. I also liked how they added General Zods (Michael Shannon) armor in the Kryptonian ship, again a nice nod to the first menacing villain/hero(for the kryptonians) the DCEU was presented with.
Warner Bros really messed up by disregarding Snyders vision. The only way they can make up for it is if they allow Snyder to continue telling his story and to give us Justice League part 2 and 3.
The DCEU doesn't have to be like Marvel. The Marvel cinematic universe was brilliant because the directors got to show what they wanted to show. Warner bros should give their directors full control over their movies and the DCEU will be its own universe for the DC fans just as the MCU is for its Marvel fans.
