Warning, the reviews are heavily inflated by undeserved 5 star reviews. I've been playing Elden Ring so I wanted to give Lies of P a try on Game Pass. I'm very glad I didn't pay any money for this game. To say the gameplay and combat in LoP was frustrating is an understatement. The controls are incredibly slow and clunky. It's like this game wanted to be seen as difficult like the Souls games, but wanted to put no effort into making a genuinely difficult game, so they opted for handicapping the player by practically having them fight in slow motion while the enemies move much faster. It doesn't matter how fast I hit the controllers, Pinocchio moves as if in stasis. Lazy development. Not to mention that this game literally copied all the menu items and attack moves from Elden Ring. It was not "inspired", it was exactly like ER. I'm amazed they got away with such blatant plagiarism. No, it is not a love letter to the Souls game. An exact copy is no kind of love letter. Do yourself a favor and try to get this on pass. Do not pay money for this game.
