Oh, where do I even begin with Asteroid City? This film is a prime example of everything that can go wrong in the world of cinema. From the lackluster acting to the abysmal writing and laughable special effects, it's clear that no effort was spared in making this disaster of a movie. First and foremost, the acting is utterly dreadful. It's as if the director plucked random people off the street and told them to recite lines with zero emotion or conviction. The main characters, who were supposedly astronauts sent on a daring mission to a distant asteroid, come across as wooden and unengaging. I found myself cringing at every poorly delivered line, desperately wishing for even a modicum of talent. As if the acting wasn't bad enough, the screenplay is an absolute train wreck. The plot is muddled and confusing, lacking any sense of coherence or direction. The dialogue is equally atrocious, filled with clichés and cheesy one-liners that would make even the most forgiving moviegoer groan in agony. It's clear that the writers had no idea how to develop compelling characters or construct a meaningful narrative. The special effects in Asteroid City are laughable, to say the least. The CGI is painfully obvious and poorly executed, making the entire film feel like a low-budget student project. The spaceship scenes are particularly cringe-worthy, with laughable green screen work and zero attention to detail. It's a shame that in an era of breathtaking visual effects, this film managed to look like something from the 1990s. Even the soundtrack fails to salvage any redeeming qualities from this trainwreck. The music is generic and forgettable, failing to elicit any emotional response or enhance the viewing experience in any way. It's as if the composer put in the bare minimum effort, mirroring the overall lack of care and craftsmanship evident throughout the entire production. Asteroid City is a prime example of how not to make a movie. From the poor acting to the nonsensical plot and laughable special effects, this film is an insult to the art of cinema. It's a shame that talented filmmakers and actors are often overlooked while abominations like this manage to see the light of day. Save yourself the agony and avoid Asteroid City at all costs. It's a black hole of creativity and entertainment that should be left to drift into oblivion.
