When top gun was being filmed I actually worked on the engines of f-14’s # 200 thru 214 one of which was the one Tom Cruise and Anthony Edwards were in the flat spin/crash in which Goose was killed in. I was stationed at NAS Pax River then Portugal and finally at Andrew’s Air Force Base from 1981 thru 1986! Worked on F-4’s, F-14’s, F-18’s (1 of which our metal smiths AMS’s accidentally caused to crash into the Chesapeake Bay) when it was only a week off the assembly line, and P-3’s. Navy was the best job I’ve ever had!! Loved it!! Would do it again in a heartbeat
