This movie draws you in with the acting and beautiful shots. It's very aesthetically and artistically pleasing... But the plot (well I should say plots) are kinda confusing and there's a lot of plot holes/open ended answers to some characters and plots.
I think if you just look at it simply it's about how their obsession causes their demise, or the moral is "Be careful what you wish for."
Anyways if you're into film and choreography and alternative dark stories that aren't typical Hollywood, you'll like this movie.
There is a bit of a happy ending, lol... But overall it's really dark/explicit/disturbing. Not a family movie.
SPOILER ALERT:
The Queen who's so obsessed and goes to great lengths with having a son and keeping him to herself. She does things like causing her husband die, eating a bloody monster heart, getting a random virgin maiden pregnant, threatening her son and attacking his friend. She turns into a monster to kill his friend but the son comes to rescue him and actually kills her in the end.
The woman who's so obsessed with being beautiful and being loved by the king -she gets shamed, magically transforms, and ruins her relationship with her only sister. And once she gets what she wants her sister is mutilated and she loses her beauty and probably the king in the end.
And then the final story the daughter is obsessed with getting married and her father is so obsessed/fascinated with a growing insect. The king neglects his daughter while he takes car of his pet, but once it dies and he hears his daughters demands to be married, he holds a contest to see if anyone can recognize the insect/his pets skin. The contest backfires and the only person to recognize the hide is an orge who aggressively takes the girl to his cave.
But she fights thru it and escapes, and she actually gets to rule above her father.
