This series left a lot to be desired. While the core plot had merit, the reading experience felt like wading through mud and the romance and spice felt unrealistic and impersonal. The world-building was lacking and the fight scenes (a core component of high fantasy) were lacklustre.
Most of this series structure is just murder in different forms and it is difficult to decipher where the visions of Yesenia end and where Isolde’s perspective begins. Finally the betrayal of several characters in the same manner and with the same phrasing is unbelievable.
