If I told you the plot you'd call this a soap opera. However, the acting of Peck, March & Jones puts it over the top! If you lived thru WWII it would have even more impact.

Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Billy Bob Thornton, Vera Farmiga, Dax Shepherd, Jeremy Strong, Vincent D'Onforio... an all time classic...no. Just short of it, but well worth your time!

Very inventive story telling! I was thoroughly entertained thru out the movie. One of my favorite Bruce Willis performances! Totally deserving of its Rotten Tomato score!

There is a giant flaw in this movie. Stewart, an old man playing one hand an old man, but then on the other hand playing a young man in his mid 20's. A bit ludicrous, but its a testament to Stewart talent that he manages to pull it off.
The incongruity is John Ford became very ill during the filming. Wayne and Stewart covered for him. One of Ford's early decisions was indoor set.
Despite all these "flaws" Liberty Valance is one if the greatest westerns ever.
It all works because of a great supporting cast, the added drama of filming in black & white, eloquent script and the immense talents of Wayne & Stewart.

I think sequels are generally doomed to failure. Once in a great while they work. Rocky 2 is a great script that does not disappoint. Burgess Meredith gives an Oscar worthy performance. Stallone is entirely believable.
