Interesting story in first episode. However the devil is in the details when it comes to production and research.
And they fell short!
When Rita begins singing for the broadcast at her factory, you see her father turning on his radio to listen. As soon as he turns the switch, it lights up and you hear the broadcast. That is a technical impossibility. Radios of the day had vacuum tubes, similar to small light bulbs, making it work. It took approximately 15 seconds for those tubes to warm up before you could hear the volume.
Another error -- Rita's son, George, seems to be about 12. Thus, as this is 1943, he was probably born in1930 or ''31.
We watch a flashback of Rita meeting George's father. That can be no later than 1930-31. The music and that type of band and the dancing did not exist in 1930!
Nice tries and touches but historically, utterly inaccurate.
