William Shorts

Typical shoot-em-up fest with a literal twist. I liked it because Kate Bosworth is staggeringly gorgeous, but Mel Gibson is little more than a cantankerous potty mouth in his most recent movies, and that’s tedious.

I heard the undergrad applications at Vassar and Marist dropped precipitously after the release of this flick.

First, I adore Kaitlin Devers. She’s proven she can handle comedy and drama, and… the subtle art of playing a role in an understated way - a slow burn. So excellent. This was a perfect limited series, with superb character development. There’s a certain character who, in the penultimate episode, is proven to be less equipped than we assume he’d prefer to be - a mild form of justice in itself. WATCH and ENJOY.

Awesome premise. Bateman plays a great protagonist who’s really the villain. I just wish movies would knock it off with showers as a go-to for anticipation of jump scares. Yes, Rebecca Hall is beautiful, and oh-my-god-she’s-in-the-shower, but to use that twice? Come on. Also, what’s up with closing credit music that doesn’t fit the genre? Too many thrillers do this. Nonetheless, it’s worth the watch.

MAGA training film. We’re hooked on drugs, causing cartels to engage in turf wars, which WE arm, causing husbands and fathers and sometimes families to flee north for safety, then we blame the immigrants for it all.

See “The Game” starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn, add a death. Get back to me. Oh, but I really liked it, and the other one.

Excellent character study. Cate Blanchett excels. I spent most of my career in the performing arts, including working for several major orchestras (on the financial side), and they depict that world flawlessly. They reveal just enough about the personality of the lead to let us know why and how she has gotten herself into seriously bad predicaments. Great film. Too long, but streaming? Who cares…?

Non-Beatles enthusiasts may find it tedious. HOWEVER…. Beatles fans who border on PhD-level knowledge and obsession will be SURPRISED and THRILLED at this marvel of a MASTERPIECE. Crisp sight and sound. True insight as to why they did the project and why they did it the way they did it in the timing they did it, including a hint as to why everything ended up getting delayed (Allen Klein!). Anyway - see it. Love it.

I admit I went into this already adoring the talent (and beauty) of Kirby. I exited it shocked that the male lead had been Shia LaBeouf(!). Anyway, I think it was a thoughtful study in pain, healing, and avoidance of that process. Note about that cousin: evil… I think.
