Reasonably fair adaptation of the story by Peter Straub for the time it was made. The film features a stellar cast that deliver great performances. Practical effects provide unforgettable eerie scenes that makes the skin crawl. While not high on blood or gore, the film creates a tone of dread and some of the scenes can definitely startle.
