I don't know how you get 21hp out of a Ferrari, but these clowns managed it. Laurence Olivier couldn't have climbed out of the pit the writers dug their actors into. If this wasn't written by AI, the humans who wrote it should go sue their middle school districts for failing to prepare them for the 9th grade.

I know the zone is over-saturated with Star Wars fare these days, but man, this is something leaps and bounds beyond anything that universe has ever spawned. Genuinely emotional, beautifully presented, and brilliantly acted. World class.

This started out with so much promise, but the plastic performances (especially from Butler, one of the few actors in the show not to be saddled with the added burden of doing an accent) make engaging with any of the characters difficult, and the writing wouldn't even be considered up to snuff on a teen angst drama on the CW. Big swing and a miss from Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Hanks. Maybe they should step back after this and ask themselves some questions.

First season was masterful. Second season has been a marketing dial-in.
