Disappointed. Had heard about Blume's success writing for young people. Got the book for free ( thank goodness) I was curious about her work. After the girls had left innocence behind, I began to lose interest. I found Vix too passive to be appealing, and Caitlin too desperate for sexual adventure to be interesting. I can't seem to find compassion for someone who has so much handed to them and gives up on life and giving to others so easily. Lastly does anybody besides me get sick of those damn continuous ITALICS?!? I'm an adult and an experienced reader; I prefer authors who allow us to hear the emphasis in in our own heads. The overuse of that trait made me think the author was just as immature as her characters.
