This movie is very enjoyable. It's a simple, fun love story without too much drama, and truth be told - I'll watch Amanda Seyfried in anything. She's a wonderful actress.
Spoilers:
I'm not usually interested in love stories that glorify cheating on your partner, so that was a low point for me. I also wish the relationship had been more developed between the two leads. It's clear they put a lot of effort into them having scenes and dialogue together, but with so much of the movie happening before the two even meet, it just felt like she was leaving her entire life behind for a man she hardly knows. And you can't even call it love at first site, because they disliked each other at first.
There were also many awkward lines where she insulted him, but it was clear we weren't supposed to think her rude for it in the same way we though him rude every time he gainfully insulted her. I'm not sure what they were going for there..
However, I REALLY appreciated that they didn't make her fiance a villain. He wasn't a bad person, he was just too focused on himself and his restaurant for a relationship. He even cleared out the kitchen when it was clear she needed to talk to him.
It felt very believable the way their relationship ended - more or less due to their incompatibility than the fault of either one. That was an unexpectedly mature response.
Maybe the least realistic part was how they could all afford (living in London and NY no less) to take long, extravagant, and often last minute trips to Verona. I choose to believe there are some rich benefactors who believe in true love bankrolling all of these shenanigans.
