Great story of the voyage of my great great great grandmother. An insight to the trials and tribulations and indeed resilience of those early travellers to the colony. From conviction 20 April 1813 to boarding the ship 22 Feb 1814 and a further 5 months in confinement on the ship before arrival in Australia is an amazing display of survival of the fittest.
Who can imagine what it must have been like to experience on a day to day basis, following on from being taken down from the court, to arriving in the colony. At lease we have an idea of her time on board the convict ship which was probably something like an adventure holiday compared to the filthy confinement in various cells between Northumberland Quarter Sessions and the dock in Portsmouth prior to departure.
