I'm absolutely obsessed with this show. As mentioned by one of the reviewers, for all of you saying that if anyone created a "Dear Black People" show it would be outrageous. You're right. It would be. BUT that's not the point at all. White people need to be aware that they have more power, privilege and ultimately benefit from society. Therefore, why would you get MAD about MINORITIES expressing how they feel? I've learnt so much watching this show. As a bi-racial person, it makes me feel included. It's relatable. Do you think I relate to shows where there is the one odd black person in it? No. I don't. Black people need increasingly more visibility in television. This show ultimately displays white toxicity in a satirical way. It's great. This show is not meant to make you feel BAD about your white privilege. If you're white and you're upset watching this- that's the real issue. Acknowledge your privilege. Hear the other side. So many points were raised in this show that white people may never experience. Black men and boys dying from police brutality. Sorry, you can't argue that. These are facts. Go back to the Jim crow era, white people have always been scared of black people because of the colour of their skin and this is only further perpetuated TODAY. When Reggie talks about walking across the street and white women debating whether to cross because they are scared. BLACK MEN are put into this box EVERY SINGLE DAY that they are violent, perpetrators, angry, etc. They don't choose that. So why are white people mad because they are categorized/labeled more in this show when it happens to us every day? Acknowledge. Watch the first season. Listen to the James Baldwin quotes- brilliant. The incorporation of black history into this film is unlike anything else. Many black students experience the same experiences on campus. ALL LIVES MATTER? Are you kidding me? Enough with your, I don't see colour. We are all the same. Until black lives matter, all lives do not matter. Anyway, that's what I need to say to all the white folks commenting about how enraged they are. If you're enraged, then you are what is wrong with society.
