Excellent game! Honestly, EA took a big step in the right direction with this game. I am huge Star Wars fan, and a HUGE EA anti-fan, so you can imagine my skepticism. I was pleasantly surprised that, other than a few bugs and glitches that only affected the look of the game and not the gameplay itself, EA delivered a well made Star Wars single player story game that didn't yank us around or get us to pay for loot boxes. Sarcasm aside, it's actually pretty good. Exploration like Zelda, and combat; though I've seen people making comparisons to Dark Souls, I felt the combat was more akin to Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, which works perfectly for lightsaber themed combat. Granted, some enemy types and bosses were still weird in that you had to "whack" them with your weapon that can cut through just about anyone or anything, but for the most part combat worked in the same way as Sekiro in that your attacking the enemy's guard/posture and not directly their health point. The story was well written, and I found myself genuinely caring for each character. Overall, this game was a win, but in an ideal world where I could have things my way (haha), here's what I would change.
First, I'd like the combat to be more like Sekiro. I know I already said it was like that, but I still hated those awkward moments when I actually hit a dude with my lightsaber and it's like, "oh... you didn't instantly die. Neat." I understand not wanting all of your enemies to drop dead in one hit, so if that's the case, tune the combat to function like Sekiro. Have your stronger enemies/ bosses on a death-point system where you have to break down your enemy's defense/guard/posture before you can land an actual lethal hit. This could make lightsaber combat in the game so much more authentic and intense, and I could tell that's what the game was going for, so why not take the full step? It's just awkward to have lightsaber fights and see a big ol' health bar pop up over the enemy, ya know?
The only other change I'd like, is simply more content. I don't think the game is too short, but still I wanted more. I guess that's just the mark of a good game though. That being said, I'll definitely sign up for any DLC content that will come out for this game.
