After finishing this book I had to go on Google reviews to check I wasn't going crazy - the number of 1 star reviews has renewed faith in my sanity.
This is a terrible novel. There is probably a decent-ish long short story in there somewhere, but the premise has clearly been padded out for the longer form with extraordinarily overwritten prose. It really is something else. From the second page on I knew it was a bust, but I persevered. I wish I hadn't wasted my time.
And the blurb on the back is NOT representative of what happens in the story. It is disingenuous if not downright deceitful. I guess that is why you don't judge a book by its cover. And the critics clearly can't be trusted either!
Avoid.
